La Finca Natura

What are they learning?

Students are able to learn about what is happening in nature in an environment that engages all of their senses…

Daily Nature Note covering the seasonal aspects occurring in nature right outside the door (academic: seasonal note taking)

Daily Nature Care (farm stewardship: chore assignment, animal care, pasture maintenance)

Daily Nature Bond (animal, human and mother nature activities: relational skills)

Benefits of an Outdoor Education

Outdoor activities increase fitness levels and builds active, healthy bodies.

Spending time outside raises levels of Vitamin D, helping protect children from future bone problems, heart disease, diabetes and other health issues.

Exposure to natural settings may be widely effective in reducing ADHD symptoms.

Exposure to environment-based education significantly increases student performance of their critical thinking skills.

Children’s stress levels fall within minutes of seeing green spaces.

Nature protects children’s emotional development whereas loss of this and a hurried lifestyle can contribute to anxiety and depression.

Nature makes you nicer, enhancing social interactions
